Welcome To Pueblo

Pueblo has a bad rap it is known for its gang violence and drugs problems. The city officials should be doing everything they can to rectify this problem. You would think. So when they started construction of the $18 million Dillon Drive overpass you would think this would be a fresh new look coming into the town from the north. According to KOAA News “Mickey Beyer, the Assistant Director of Public Works for the City of Pueblo, said the project should create a new gateway to the city. We are also hoping that this will be a catalyst project that will spur development on the north side and extend into Pueblo West, he said.” He was right, it has already started growth alright. What was the first establishment constructed, Strawberry Fields a recreational marijuana facility.

According to market marketing analysis the owners of Strawberry Fields pick prime real estate for their business. Is right off the freeway where anyone coming into town can see its location. That makes good business sense. Compared to most other recreational marijuana stores that are located out in the county hidden from public view.

The issue with this marijuana establishment is that it is the first thing for visitors to see when coming in to town. The city is spending $18 million on a absolutely beautiful interchange and now parts of this interchange includes this pot shop, with bright red vivid colors it will stand out and get peoples' attention. When people find out that it is a pot shop what will they think? Is Pueblo a pot town,or the home of heroes? And to think that city council was the one who've issued the building permit and licensing of this establishment. What were they thinking?
